Mari de Monte is a pioneering female barber who proudly won the prestigious Female Barber of the Year title in 2020. With over 17 years of dedicated experience in the industry, she has significantly shaped hair trends and styles since the year 2003, and she has been an influential presence in Manhattan’s men’s grooming scene since 2005.
Her impressive career began at Martial Vivot Salon, and after honing her skills, she spent five years at Fleishman Men’s Salon’s East Side location before taking the bold step of founding her own establishment, MDM Grooming Studio. Mari’s influence extends globally, with valuable experience gained in Japan, and she has garnered multiple top 5 nominations at the esteemed BTC Awards. Her remarkable work has appeared in several notable publications, such as Black Book and Barberevo.
As the founder of Low Ear Studio, she seamlessly combines her passions for hair styling, education, art, and music, creating a unique and enriching experience at the dynamic nexus of art and grooming.

Janney Lyons is an experienced stylist with over 15 years in the industry. Since 2005, she has worked with a high-profile clientele that includes artists, actors, lawyers, and everyday city residents. Janney began her career at John Allens and later joined Fleishman’s as one of the original artists. Her talent has been featured in magazines.
In addition to her barbering skills, Janney has a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a focus on art history, which enhances her work with sophistication and classic style. Living in New York for over 20 years, she has a deep understanding of Manhattan’s upscale clientele.
